Robert Ribble, retired Brockport educator
Robert Ribble died Monday, February 21, 2005 at Lakeside Memorial Hospital, Brockport. He was 71. Robert was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
His collegiate career began at Pennsylvania State College at Kutztown where he earned his bachelor of science degree in geography. He received his master's degree in economics from Temple University and his Ph.D. in economics and education at Ohio State University. In 1966 he took a position at Penn State University where he taught in the Education Department until 1973.
Dr. Ribble came to SUNY Brockport in 1973 where he served as chair of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction from 1973-1979. In addition, he served as acting dean for the faculty of Professional Services (1975-76) and associate director of the Bilingual Multicultural Studies Program (1976-1984). He returned to classroom teaching where he taught educational measurement and evaluation and statistics and research design until retirement in 1995. In 1985 he was awarded the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Dr. Ribble had many musical interests and talents in singing, playing piano and composing. He also was a formidable table tennis player, avid chess player and amateur astronomer and model railroad enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Lucille; daughters, Chalyce and Denise; sister, Constance Green; nephews, William and Thomas Weller; niece, Sally Heilman; and family friends, Marge Bell and Tom and Janine Post.
Memorial Services will be held at the Newman Center, 101 Kenyon Street, Brockport on Saturday, April 2 at 11 a.m. Contributions can be made to Lakeside Memorial Hospital, Brockport, in his memory.
ALBION
Brigden, Dorothy "Dot" E. (Hammond), 92, formerly of Waterport, died February 27, 2005 at the Orleans County Nursing Home. Along with her husband, she was the former owner and manager of Brigden Memorials, Waterport. She is predeceased by her husband Clayton in 1975. She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Catherine Hammond of Lockport, Irene Barstow of Albion, Lefa Rush of Albion; niece and caregiver, Joanne Hammond (Roger Gilder) of Rochester; dear friend, Joan Thomason of Albion; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by two brothers, G. Frank Hammond and Kenneth C. Hammond.
Funeral Services were held March 2 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Albion. Burial in Hartland Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Orleans County, 14080 Route 31 W, Albion, NY 14411.
BERGEN
Dilcher, Frederick C., February 28, 2005 at age 89. Husband of Dorothy; father of Roger (Sharon) and Charles (Carol). Also survived by six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren. Father of the late Judith Irwin.
Funeral Services were held March 4 at the H. E. Turner Funeral Home, Bergen. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association in his memory.
BROCKPORT
Marshall, Carol D. (Mosher), of Greece, died February 11, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer, at age 56. Survived by her loving daughters, Wendy (Tony) Pagano, Tammy (Nelio) Flores; grandson, Anthony Pagano; parents, Brad and Hattie Mosher of Brockport; sister, Nancy (Orlo) Noxon; brother, Harold Richard (Mary Frances) Mosher of Florida; many other relatives and friends. Carol was a 1966 graduate of Brockport High School and received an associate's degree from Monroe Community College. She was assistant controller for Visiting Nurse Service.
A Memorial Service was held February 16 at Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Contributions can be made to the Pluta Cancer Center, 125 Red Creek Drive, Rochester 14623 in her memory.
Nealon, Lynanne E., Suddenly, February 25, 2005, age 53. Predeceased by her husband, James. Survived by her children, Maureen and Andrew Nealon, James (Naomi) Nealon; brothers, Delbert (Candace) Livingstone, John (Regina) Livingstone; grandson Brett and one on the way; many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Lynanne's life was held March 5. Spring inurnment, Lakeside Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
Pepper, Jean R., age 84, died February 16, 2005. Formerly of Brockport. Predeceased by her loving husband, Robert A. Pepper. Survived by her four children, Dr. Tom (Lenita) Pepper, Judith (Jerome) Infantino, Jill Lowe (Robert Best) and Abby Pepper; grandsons, Adam Theiler and Kirk (Christine) Theiler, great-granddaughter, Lucy Theiler.

Swan, Betty Lou, On Saturday, February 26, 2005. She is survived by her husband, Richard; two sons, Robert (Dorothy), David (Katrian); 10 grandchildren; her mother and father, Robert and Marion Foltman; her sister, Beatrice (Bruce) Klob; her mother-in-law, Jean Swan; several nieces, nephews and a close friend, Shirley Hall.

Hegeman, Elizabeth Anna "Betty Ann," Suddenly on February 24, 2005 at the age of 64. She is survived by her beloved son, David Michael Hegeman; daughters, Amy Hegeman Gaesser and Kimberly Ann (Ken) Corpus; cherished grandchildren, Brendan and Erin Gaesser, Korey, Kris and Katelyn Corpus; her loving mother, Philma Cooley; best friend/sister, Donna (Jack) McElver and baby brother, Donald "Butch" (Kim) Cooley; several nieces, nephews and beloved dog, CarolAnn.

Moore, Lewis H., Age 68, February 24, 2005. Survived by his wife, Arlene; sons, Danny, Charles (Kris), Paul (Holly); daughter, Sue Ellen (David) Quarantello; brother, James; sisters, Florence Hartman, Evelyn Burch, Lillian Cowham, Clara Kubera; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Nichols, Daniel R., Age 38, of Middletown, Rhode Island, formerly of Holley. February 25, 2005 at his home in Rhode Island after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Nancy (Buskey) Nichols. Mr. Nichols was born on September 9, 1966 in Brockport. Mr. Nichols has been serving in the U.S. Navy for the last 16 years. He was a 1984 graduate of Holley High School. After graduation, he joined the US Navy Reserves and continued into active duty, serving in the Persian Gulf War in 1990. Dan loved sports and was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed hunting and played flag football and softball on the Navy league team "Redcom." Besides his loving wife, he is survived by four children; Allisha, Dan Jr., Joshua and Victoria Nichols; his father Arnold (Patricia) Nichols Sr.; his mother Linda (Bruce) Greene; his father-in-law, William Buskey Sr.; his mother-in-law, Patricia Buskey; his grandparents, Wilber (Eurett) Frasier Sr.; his brother, Arnold (Annett) Nichols Jr.; two sisters, Rebecca (Mark) Beswick, Brenda (Jon) DeYoung; two stepbrothers, Dean (Jamie) Wilkins, Shawn (Jill) Greene; four brothers-in-law, William (Wendy) Buskey Jr., Michael (Debbie) Buskey, Robert Buskey and Ken Buskey, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends including his Navy family.
A Funeral Service was held March 3 at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., Albion. Interment in Mt. Albion Cemetery with full Military Honors accorded by the U.S. Navy. OGDEN
Anderson, Laura Jean, February 25, 2005 at age 14. Predeceased by her grandfathers, Roy Mutter and Lloyd Anderson; and god father, Anthony Dragone. Beloved daughter and sister, she is survived by her parents, David and Nancy Anderson; brothers, Michael Thomas and John David Anderson; grandmothers, Dorothy Mutter and Mary Anderson; special friend and mentor, Kylie Vaughn; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was an honor student at Spencerport High School.

Hilsinger, Richard "Rick," On February 25, 2005 at age 56. He is survived by his parents Richard and Rae Hilsinger; his beloved companion Regina Lennox; his sisters, Julie Reed, Paula West and Carol West; his brother Doug Hilsinger; several nieces and nephews; many other family members including Dawn Hilsinger (Gosnell). Rick worked as a master carpenter for 40 years, he was a Vietnam Army War Veteran and a Spencerport High School graduate.

Sickelco, Robert J., February 27, 2005 at age 85. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years Carolyn (Halbleib) Sickelco; his sisters Manelta Lanigan and Jane Heuser. He is survived by his children Susan (Fred Kaiser) Sickelco, Carolyn Hayes, James (Karen) Sickelco, Nancy (Tom) Piwinski and Elizabeth Sickelco; his grandchildren Andrew and Kristen Hayes, Jeffrey and Robert Sickelco, Gretchen and Laura Piwinski; several nieces and nephews.
Bob was a graduate of Charlotte High School and the University of Buffalo, School of Pharmacy. He served in the U.S. Army's 32nd Infantry Division from 1942-1946 in the Pacific Theater, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was awarded the Bronze Star in 1944 and the Conspicious Service Cross from the State of New York in 2004.
Bob was a pharmacist and owner of Austin's Drug and Department Store in Spencerport from 1947-1980. He was a Councilman on the Ogden Town Board for 7 years and was the Supervisor of the Town of Ogden from 1982-1987; a Trustee of the Village of Spencerport for 11 years; member of the Spencerport Central School Board (3 years as President); charter member and Past President of the Spencerport Lions Club; member of Ferris Goodridge American Legion Post #330; member of Spencerport Area Chamber of Commerce; President for 5 years of the Board of Directors of Lakeside Memorial Hospital and served 7 years on the Board of Directors of Rochester Drug Cooperative.
Bob loved fishing, horseback riding, gardening and serving his community.
Funeral Services and interment were private. Friends are asked to say a prayer for Bob or contribute to GRHC/Hospice or to the National Wildlife Federation in his memory.
