Orleans County
court deputy retires

Gerald W. Reamer has "retired" as a court deputy for the Orleans County Sheriff's Office. Reamer stepped down from the part-time position effective February 28 after serving for the past 16 and one-half years.

Gerry Reamer retired from the United States Postal Service in 1987. He worked as postmaster in Kendall. The following year he was appointed a court deputy by then Sheriff Dave Green. A lifelong resident of Kendall, he and his wife, Alice, have been married for 57 years. The Reamers have three grown sons, all of whom reside in Arkansas.

Gerry and Alice were guests at a luncheon in his honor on Friday, March 4. Those in attendance included County Court Judge James Punch, District Attorney Joseph Cardone and Orleans County Sheriff Scott Hess, who presented him with a plaque recognizing his service to the Sheriff's Office and the county. Numerous colleagues and friends were also on hand for the celebration.

Gerry and Alice Reamer say they plan to travel as much as possible, with Arkansas as their primary destination.
