WXXI radio receives a Gracie Award
WXXI Radio Producer Brenda Tremblay was recently named winner of a national Gracie Allen Award® for her feature, The Dark Haired Beauty of Council Street. The American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) present Gracie Allen Awards® to recognize quality programming by women, for women and about women in broadcasting, cable and news media. The Dark Haired Beauty of Council Street, which aired on WXXI-AM 1370 and Classical 91.5/90.3, told the story of Italian-American singer Rosalie Michaels, whose promising career was stymied by family and cultural expectations. This is Tremblays third Gracie®. In addition to reporting on the arts for National Public Radio on AM 1370, she is also host of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra broadcasts. Tremblay was born in western New York and lives in Brockport with her husband and their three children.
The winners will be honored at the Gracie Allen Awards Luncheon on Thursday, June 23 at the Tavern on the Green in New York City. AWRT in a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the impact of women in electronic media and related fields.
