Brockport Breast Cancer support group to participate in American Cancer Society Relay for Life

The Brockport Breast Cancer Support Group will join other groups and the Rochester Westside Relay for Life Chapter for the American Cancer Society's Sixth Annual Relay for Life June 3 and 4.

The annual Westside Relay for Life takes 10 months of planning by Co-chairs Dan Hartwig and Randy Hunter, who visit cancer support groups throughout the area, informing group members about the event and encouraging their participation.

A Relay for Life Captains and Survivors Recognition Dinner took place March 22, with Brockport Breast Cancer Support Group member Anne Klein attending. Klein is also active in the American Cancer Society's Reach for Recovery program and is a volunteer in Strong Memorial Hospital Wilmot Cancer Center's pilot program in which volunteers meet with women who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer.

Anyone interested is invited to join the BBCS Group's Relay for Life Team. Registration for team members is $10 per person, and all revenues go to the American Cancer Society. This year's BBCS Group team captain is Klein's husband, Ronn Klein.

The Westside Relay takes place at the Spencerport High School Soccer Stadium, beginning at 6 p.m. on June 3 and continues throughout the night, ending with a closing ceremony at 7 a.m. on June 4.
