Long-time Orleans County sheriff's deputy retires

Deputy William E. (Bill) Larkin has retired from the Orleans County Sheriff's Office, ending a career of almost 29 years in law enforcement.

Larkin is a lifelong resident of Orleans County. Following graduation from Lyndonville High School in 1969, and six years in the United States Army and Army Reserves, he joined the Sheriff's Office on April 14, 1976. He was sworn in by then-Sheriff Donald White. Larkin served almost his entire career assigned to the Sheriff's road patrol, with the exception of four years during which time he was assigned as a criminal investigator. In addition to Sheriff White, he has served under four other Sheriffs during his tenure.

Larkin and his wife, Jeannine, were guests at a luncheon in his honor on February 28. Those in attendance included Orleans County Sheriff Scott Hess and District Attorney Joseph Cardone. Numerous colleagues and friends were also on hand for the celebration.
