Student vocalists invited to compete
A free, a cappella singing competition for students is being sponsored by the Seneca Land District of the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA), as part of a youth outreach program which promotes singing as a "Hobby For Life." The Chorus of the Genesee, the Rochester Chapter of the society, hosts the event on Saturday, April 30, 1 p.m., at Harmony House, 58 East Main Street, Webster.
The competition is open to all students in grades 7-12, singing in groups of 3-12 members. Each a cappella group will sing two songs in any singing style. Evaluation will be based on vocal production and stage presence.
Cash awards will be made to the top three competing schools to enhance the school vocal music program: first place $200; second place $150; third place $100.
For an afternoon of music competition, prizes, free pizza for singers, teachers and family members, contact your respective choral director. Directors may call 585 424-4652 or email sing4part@frontiernet.net to request a registration form or for information.
