Two girls earn Player of the Year recognition
Katie Sullivan of Churchville-Chili High and Gabrielle Boley of Brockport High were presented Player of the Year plaques from Birds Eye Foods of Rochester for their stellar play. They were selected by the coaches in the Monroe County I League.
Sullivan, a senior guard, averaged 20.4 points. 5.4 assists, and 5.3 steals per game this past year. Careerwise, she scored more than 1,200 points including more than 150 three-point baskets. She was twice named Player of the Week. She will be attending Southern Wesleyan University on a full athletic scholarship.
Boley, a senior forward, averaged 18.7 points and 12 rebounds per game this year. A five year starter at Brockport, she compiled a career record of 1,343 points. She is considering enrolling at Harvard, Columbia or Canisius.
Birds Eye Foods sponsors the basketball program to encourage teen age girls to become active in sports, learn about the value of teamwork, and enjoy the challenge of competition.
