Hilton jump rope event a success
One hundred thirty of Hilton's students participated in the annual Jump Rope-A-Thon for Heart along with their parents. A variety of aerobic activities were done by the students including jump-roping, jake the snake, pogo sticks, jumping with skip-its and hula hoops and dancing to help fight heart disease and stroke.
The Jump-A-Thon was held on Saturday, April 2 at the Hilton High School gymnasium. Students from all three elementary schools raised $8,291 for the American Heart Association. Ramona Englebrecht of the AHA awarded Northwood PE Teacher and 21 year jump-a-thon coordinator, Judy Roll, with a plaque of appreciation and dedication from the American Heart Association.
High money earners were Nick Farese and Abigail VanVleck with $200. Every student earned a prize for their participation. Door prizes were compliments of Hilton teachers, Hilton McDonald's, Pettinari's, Leaning Tower, Home Video, Hilton-Parma Recreation, Big M, Pleasure Lanes, Ben Franklin, Quest PTSO and Hamlin Sports. This year's coordinators, Stacy Chiaramonte and Shannon Ingles, thanked local businesses for their donations. They would also like to thank parent volunteers as well as Hilton teachers Kelley O'Connell, Tim Jones, Amy Hargather, Sue Genthner, Mike Cocquyt, Scott Lutes and Judy Roll.
