New superintendent of schools selected in Hilton
The Hilton Board of Education has selected Hilton High School Principal David Dimbleby as new superintendent of schools effective July 1. The announcement was made by Hilton Board President Daniel Wellington. Final contract negotiations are underway.
The six-month selection process began under the direction of search consultant and Hilton Interim Superintendent of Schools C. Tod Eagle. The search and selection process involved parent, community and staff input in formulating qualifications for the district's new leader. Following a nationwide search, Dimbleby emerged as the board's choice of the 38 applicants and three finalists considered for the position.
Dimbleby has been principal of the 1,467-student Hilton High School since 1999. Prior to that he was principal at Hilton's Quest Elementary School and West Avenue Primary School; assistant principal in the Churchville-Chili School District; and special education teacher in Hilton for eight years. He also taught in the Albion and Williamson Central School Districts. Dimbleby is regarded as a principled leader who engages his school team in thoughtful, strategic planning which has led Hilton High School to higher Regents diploma rates in recent years as well as the establishment of an International Baccalaureate Diploma program.
"I hope to create a highly engaging, successful learning environment for all students," Dimbleby said, "and an organization that focuses on continuous improvement. Hilton is a district and a community that takes great pride in its schools and I am proud to work with our board of education, administration, faculty and staff that is so deeply committed to meeting the needs of every child."
Dimbleby is a resident of Brockport and a native of Greece. He is married to Lynn Dimbleby, a teacher of the gifted and talented in the Churchville-Chili School District. They have two children: Grant, 18, a freshman at Hamilton College and Craig, 15, a sophomore at Brockport High School.
