Albion Wal-Mart receives re-zoning approval
The Albion Town Board approved rezoning a parcel of land from agricultural/residential to general business. About 130 acres of land in the Gaines Basin Road and Route 31 area are being eyed by Wal-Mart as a site of a super center in the town.
The rezoning was approved by a vote of four to one on April 11. With the approval, a new business district was created that officials hope will spur economic development that will likely begin with Wal-Mart.
Wal-Mart is proposing to construct a 155,070 square-foot store on 24 acres. Store officials still need to obtain site plan approval from Albion's Planning Board.
