Holley third-grader Jesus Mendoza is very intent on gathering eggs during the first annual PTSA Egg Hunt. Those who participated made enough donations to provide Easter dinner for four Holley families in need.

Holley egg hunt helps families in need

It wasn't just about the brightly colored plastic eggs hidden in the patches of snow, but don't tell that to the dozens of pre-K through fourth-grade students who took part in the first annual Holley PTSA Egg Hunt. The only requirement to attend was for each child to bring a non-perishable food item or donate money so that the PTSA could supply Easter dinner to four needy families from the Holley area. With over 70 food items and nearly $200 donated, the PTSA was able to provide a ham, chicken and turkey for each family, all the trimmings for dinner, and Easter basket goodies for the children.

In addition to the egg hunt, students enjoyed getting their photos taken with the Easter bunny and participating in a coloring contest with two winners from each grade. Individuals and organizations supplied money, prizes, food and supplies, among them: Brockport Bowl, Brown's Berry Patch, Clarendon Fire Company, Dr. Daniel Schiavone DDS, Danny's Small Engine, Marsha DeFilipps, Eastman Kodak Company, Heath and Martin, Holley Fire Department, Holley Karate, Holley Pharmacy, James Sullivan Agency, JP Farm Market, K&K Food Mart, Lift Bridge Book Shop, Murray Superette, PAETEC Communications, Pat and Larry Sauro, Stockham Lumber Company, Wal-Mart and West Ridge Realty.
