New residence hall plans announced by SUNY Brockport

Officials from SUNY College at Brockport and the NYS Dormitory Authority outlined plans to build a $15.7-million, 200-student apartment-style residence hall at a news conference held April 14 on the Brockport campus.

SUNY Brockport Interim President John B. Clark was joined by Rick Bianchi, senior project manager from the NYS Dormitory Authority, and Robert Stark of Chaintreuil, Jensen & Stark Architects and Planners who provided details and renderings of the planned two-story buildings. Each of the 50 apartments will include a full kitchen, dining room, living room, four bedrooms and two full baths. They will be fully furnished and equipped with Internet access, air conditioning, cable television and convenient parking.

Bids to build the as yet unnamed complex will be sent in mid-October, with contracts awarded in December. Plans call for groundbreaking and construction to begin in May 2006 with the first group of students moving in by the fall of 2007.
