Real world experiences

The Spencerport High School Library was the setting for the "weddings" of students in Stacey Shortino's Family Living class, who were studying about the planning, time management and expenses involved in getting married. Students solicited donations from David's Bridal, Men's Wearhouse, Wegmans, IGA, Pontillo's, DiRosato's and other local businesses to create realistic weddings and the receptions that followed. Drew Masseo, left and front, places a ring on a "bride" Cate Cornish. Also performing the ring ceremony are Joe Lessard and Cindy Giardino. Next students will look at the costs of life-changing events such as buying a home, having children, winning the lottery and divorce.
