Sweden Senior Center presents end of life issues seminar

The Sweden Senior Center is sponsoring New York State Bar Association Decision Making Day 2005 on Thursday, May 12 at 11 a.m. Decision Making Day is a volunteer, public-service project in which attorneys speak on topics relevant to older New Yorkers, their family members and care givers. The program is free of charge, will last approximately one hour and will include a question and answer session.

The 2005 checklist of legal topics includes: health care proxies, powers of attorney, wills, DNR, organ donations and probate. What are the health care proxies and powers of attorney? How do they differ? How can these documents help avoid problems regarding guardianship, DNR orders and organ donation request? Why do you need a will? What insurance, pension and financial documents should you have? What must be done to complete and maintain these forms? Presenter Wendy Solovay, Esq. will address the issues.
