Season opening canal 'sweep' set

The season opening sweep for the Adopt-A-Trail program of the Town of Sweden is scheduled for Saturday, May 7. Volunteers will meet at Harvester Park at 9 a.m. to begin work on the canal towpath. Adopting groups are asked by the Canal Corporation to monitor their sections of towpath at least once during the canal season. They pick up litter, trim overhanging branches, and report serious problems to the Canal Corporation.

Participating groups, for the fifth season, are: the Brockport Middle School Retirees, the Walk and Talks, the Coffee Cup Campers, the Brockport High School Girls Swim Team, the First Presbyterian Church, the Brockport History Club, the Brockport Garden Club and the Brockport Federal Credit Union.
