SUNY employee receives Chancellor's Award
Sandra Mason, executive director of Brockport Auxiliary Service Corporation (BASC) on the campus of SUNY Brockport, has been cited for excellence in professional service and has been named winner of the Chancellor's Award for Excellence. Mason will receive her award, an inscribed certificate and a cast bronze medallion, on May 6 during the College Recognition Dinner.
The Chancellor's Awards were created 35 years ago to recognize distinguished performance within the state university system. Recipients of this award not only excel in their career positions, but also demonstrate excellence in professional activities beyond the parameters of their job description.
In Mason's 23 years of leadership in BASC, the corporation that manages Dining Services, the bookstore, laundry, summer programs and parking services at SUNY Brockport, Mason has reached high levels of accomplishment, according to college officials. SUNY Brockport's Dining Services have been ranked #1 among all SUNY schools since 1994 in the student opinion survey conducted every three years. In addition, the dining services program has received five Loyal E. Horton dining awards from the National Association of College and University Food Services.
Mason's other awards include the 1997 Robert Golden Award, one of the highest honors bestowed on a member of the National Association of College Auxiliary Services and the NACAS East Regional Mentor Award.
