Anthony T. DiPonzio, son of Joseph and Deborah DiPonzio of North Chili, was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at Mohawk Valley Community College. DiPonzio has made the president's list for outstanding achievement and will graduate on May 27, with a degree in welding technology.


Kimberly Gawron is the daughter of Mark Gawron and Tamera Gawron. Gawron, of Hilton, is a 2005 graduate of Hilton High School and has been awarded the Gopher Scholarship. She will be a freshman in the fall at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in the College of Liberal Arts.


Two local residents will be candidates for baccalaureate degrees at SUNY Oswego's commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 14.

The following local residents will participate in the graduation ceremonies: Lindsay L. Callahan of Hamlin and Michael G. Mael of Kendall.


David Branca, son of Amy and Bruce Branca of Spencerport, has been inducted into Rochester Institute of Technology's Alpha Sigma Lambda Honorary Society.

Branca, a graduate of Hilton High School, is a fourth-year graphic media student in RIT's School of Print Media.


Andrew Meyers, son of Gregg and Renee Meyers, Churchville, received a bachelor of music degree in vocal music education from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Commencement exercises were held Sunday, May 8.


Five local nursing students were recently awarded scholarships by the Lucretia H. Richter Nursing Scholarship Committee.

The following students each were awarded $1,000: Miriam Chapman, Roberts Wesleyan College; Matthew Klapetzy, Nazareth College; Gina Murray, Nazareth College; Susan Smith, Alfred State College; and Vickii Bement, Finger Lakes Community College.


Tim Voorheis, a senior at Kettering University in Flint, Michigan has been named to the dean's list for the winter 2005 term. He will receive a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

Voorheis is a graduate of Churchville-Chili High School and is the son of Deb and Brian Voorheis of Spencerport.


Daniel R. Spaulding is the recipient of the Stantec Consulting Group Scholarship sponsored by the Monroe Professional Engineers Society and presented as part of the scholarship program of the Rochester Engineering Society.

Spaulding, a student at Churchville-Chili High School, is the son of Kevin and Debbie Spaulding of Spencerport. He plans to study engineering at the Grove Community College.


Nicholas Earnhart was inducted into the Purdue University chapters of Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi in April. Pi Tau Sigma is the International Mechanical Engineering Honor Society. Earnhart, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering is a graduate of Hilton High School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Earnhart of Hilton.


Air Force Airman Dustin J. Peglow has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of Jodi Price of Goldsboro, North Carolina and nephew of Sonya Schicker of Holley. Peglow is a 2004 graduate of Spring Creek High School, Seven Springs, North Carolina.


Coast Guard Reserve Seaman Paul M. Polaski, son of Patricia A. and Michael J. Polaski of Spencerport, recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, New Jersey.

Polaski is a 1998 graduate of Wilson High School of Spencerport. He is a 2000 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with an AA degree.


Army National Guard Spec. Erik J. Bushart has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina.

He is the son of James and Linda Bushart of North Chili. Bushart graduated in 1995 from Churchville-Chili and earned a bachelor's degree in 2000 from Roberts Wesleyan College, Rochester.


Civilian Benjamin C. Moore, son of Kimberly E. Guest of Hilton and Paul R. Moore of Holley, recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District Buffalo. Moore will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois.

Moore is a 2002 graduate of Holley Central High School of Holley.


Army Pfc. Jerry F.H. Wagner is deploying to Afghanistan to serve as a member of Combined Joint Task Force-76 (CJTF-76). The soldier is regularly assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade based at Caserma Ederle, Vicenza, Italy.

The private is a combat engineer with one year of military service. He is the son of Jerry L. and Roxanne Wagner of Holley. Wagner graduated in the year 2000 from Holley Junior-Senior High School.
