Ritchie hat trick lead Cadets
Freshman Mitch Ritchie scored three goals and added three assists to lead Hilton to an 8-6 victory over Spencerport in high school boy's lacrosse.
The two teams managed just one goal each in the first quarter by Spencerport's Rob Stojanov and Hilton's Brett Bridges. Both offenses came alive in the second quarter with seven goals. The Cadets Ritchie and then Tyler Stiles scored to give them a 3-1 lead before the Rangers tied the game on goals from Pat Decker and Jeff Konko. In the final two minutes of the half, Cory Blackburn scored while falling down and Ritchie netted his second of the game before Spencerport's Stojanov scored with an assist from Andy Morgan to close the Hilton lead to 5-4 at halftime.
The Cadets registered both goals in the third quarter - Ritchie completing his hat trick and Stiles getting his second - and goaltender Aaron Donahay came up with several big stops for a three goal cushion.
Steve DiFulvio scored a goal midway through the final quarter breaking an 18-minute scoreless stretch for the Rangers. Stojanov then scored his third goal after another Cadet tally for the 8-6 final.
Donahay finished with 15 saves in the game as Hilton improved their record to 4-5. The Rangers fell to 4-6.
