Ogden Democratic Committee announces candidates

The Ogden Democratic Committee has endorsed the following candidates for office in the Town of Ogden. This year Garry Cranker will run for town supervisor. Cranker has lived in Ogden for 20 years. He retired from General Motors in 2000 with 30 years of service. He has been an active volunteer of his community for the past 35 years and sits on the board of directors of the United Way of Greater Rochester. He has worked on numerous campaigns from presidential to local levels. He continues to be an active member of his union, IUE-CWA local 509. In addition, he is a member of the Churchville Masonic Lodge 667.

For the two town council seats up for election, the committee has endorsed Mark Seefried and Marie Centola. Seefried lives in the village of Spencerport and is president of the Ogden Bears. He currently has 21 years of service at Wegmans as a licensed master electrician. He has devoted many years to youth sports in Churchville, Ogden and Spencerport.

Centola has been a resident of Ogden for 25 years. While raising her children she worked as a finance manager in the auto sales industry. She is a supporter of women's equality in the workplace and if elected would be the first woman elected as a town councilperson since 1979.

The committee endorsed Independence Party member Greg Catlin for the office of Ogden highway superintendent. Catlin lives in Ogden and has been employed by Wegmans since 1987 as head groundskeeper. He holds a degree from Alfred State College in ornamental horticulture and landscape development.

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter will host the campaign kickoff fundraiser on June 6 at the Whittier Party House. For information, call 594-5305.
