Chili Republicans endorse candidates
The Chili Republican Committee has released its slate of candidates for the November elections.
Mary Valerio will run for the 3rd District county legislative seat for the second time this November. Valerio was appointed to fulfill the remainder of Tracy Logel's term and last year ran an election for this office. Now she has to run again as part of the county wide legislative race which establishes the benchmarks for terms.
The slate also includes incumbents Chili Supervisor Tracy Logel, Town Clerk Richard Brongo, Councilperson Mary Sperr, County Legislator Bob Colby and sitting Town Justice Melvin Olver who is completing his 21st year in office and running for his seventh term.
Logel has served as town supervisor since January 2004, focusing on cost containment while increasing services. She has served in local government as Monroe County legislator; deputy majority leader; a member of the Ways & Means Committee; Chairman, Human Services Committee; Chili Town Council and a member of a number of other committees dedicated to Monroe County Development.
Brongo has served the Town of Chili as town clerk since 2000, implementing computer enhancements which have streamlined the licensing and record management needs of the Chili community.
Councilperson Mary Sperr's has been Chili councilwoman since 2002, liaison Historic Preservation, a member of Chili Historical Society, Association of Towns Member, and former Chili Republican Town Leader.
Two new candidates to this year's slate are Dennis Schulmerich for town council and Steve Tucciarello for county legislature in the 4th District. Tucciarello is President and General Manager of Colony Dry Cleaners, as well as president and property manager of Tucam Inc. He also serves his community as Constable in the Town of Gates, Chairman of the Gates Zoning Board of Appeals and is involved with the Gates Republican Committee, Gates Men's Republican Club, Westside YMCA, Gates Amita Club, Gates Republican Club and Gates-Chili Chamber of Commerce.
Schulmerich currently is a manager of Product Business Development at Eastman Kodak as well as an adjunct professor at St. John Fisher College. He has been involved with youth sports in Chili, Spirit of Common Folk (music for not-for-profits), St. Pius X and St. Christopher's churches and the Gates-Chili YMCA.
The committee will kick off its campaign season next month as the petition process begins.
