Brockport's Summer Serenades begin
The Summer Serenades concert series is set to resume in Brockport. The village will be sponsoring the Thursday evening series, held at Sagawa Park, located at the corner of Erie and Main, in downtown Brockport. The season opens Thursday, June 9 at 7 p.m. with a performance by the Brockport High School's Mad Vocals.
This year, the concert series puts an emphasis on local and regional talent.
Drawing good crowds is also a priority, in order to maximize the potential benefits to downtown merchants. As a result, groups such as the newly formed Brockport Community Big Band, will get plenty of exposure.
Long time favorite, the Joe Caruso Band, returns along with Summer Serenades newcomers such as the Johnny Matt Band, local jam band Into the Now and alternative country band Hu Nu?, featuring alumni of the popular Rochester-based alt-rockers Colorblind James Experience. Also on the schedule are the Barroom Buzzards Dixieland band, Crosscut electric rhythm and blues band and the BHS Concert and Jazz bands. Pick up a complete schedule at downtown merchants, Village Hall or the Sweden Senior Center.
