Deena Powell, from Brockport, graduated from the University of Rochester on May 12, with a master of science degree in marriage and family therapy.

She is the daughter of Renard and Nancy Powell of Brockport.


Linda and Thomas Mackin of Hamlin announce the graduation of their daughter Kimberly Ilene Mackin from Clemson University. She graduated magna cum laude and with Calhoun Honors.


Kayla McCrossen of Spencerport received the Richard Lilly Memorial Award at The Norman Howard School's Celebration of Success, an event showcasing the talents and achievements of the students, on May 25. The Richard Lilly Memorial Award is presented annually to two Norman Howard School students whose natural leadership, humor and humanity inspires a sense of community and fellowship both in and out of school. McCrossen, a junior at The Norman Howard School, is the daughter of Wayne and Deborah McCrossen.


Allison Roether, daughter of Sandra and Jerald Roether of Churchville, graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business administration from SUNY Geneseo on May 14. She will be entering the Executive Financial Training Program at Bank of America's headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.


Andrew W. Rutter, son of William and Phyllis Rutter of Spencerport, graduated cum laude with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine during commencement exercises on Saturday, May 14. He will be starting a one year general practice residency July 1 at The Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.Rutter, a 2001 graduate of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, is a 1997 graduate of Spencerport High School.


Dianne Hickerson's watercolor painting "47th and Broadway" has been chosen to appear in Splash 9, a book published by North Light Book Publishers. The publisher describes the book as "a collection of America's best contemporary watercolors and showcases paintings from over 100 of today's finest artists." Each piece of artwork is accompanied by the artist's own commentary on technique. Hickerson lives in the town of Sweden.


SUNY Fredonia announced the following students from this area graduated during May ceremonies:

From Brockport: Maryam Ghazanfari, Stephanie Lair, Jamie Pricola and Michelle Roller;

From Churchville: Andrea DeVault, James Foos and Mary Colleen Mullaly;

From Hilton: Jeana Aranzullo, Stephen Mueller, Sarah Rondo and Adam Donnelly;

From Rochester: David Bateman, Andrea Caruso, Matthew Kwiatkowski, Eric Marlowe, Kara Placito, Jamie Vail and Lindsay Holderle;

From Spencerport: Gregory Baker, Lacey Yerdon and Kristee Ayles.


Andrew R. Hamilton of Hamlin received the John W. Danforth Company Scholarship and the R. P. Shaw Award from the University of Buffalo. Analisa C. Sanchez of Spencerport received a scholarship from the University of Buffalo's School of Engineering.


Kari A. Levofsky has graduated with highest honors from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in the Physician Assistant Program. She is the daughter of Sandy and Ron Giles of Spencerport. Levofsky is a 2001 graduate of Spencerport High School.


Kristi Rath, daughter of Michael Rath of Hamlin and Heidi Melens of Brockport, was named to the dean's list at SUNY Fredonia with a 3.68 GPA.

Rath, a 2005 fall semester senior, is a history major and plans on teaching history at the junior high level, she is a graduate of Brockport High School.


Andrew Meyers, son of Gregg and Renee Meyers, Churchville, was named to the dean's list for the second semester at Hope College.


Stephanie Anne McMullen of Churchville has been named to the spring 2005 dean's list at SUNY Cortland. A graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, she is the daughter of Marilyn and Tim McMullen.
