wins at states Bright Raven Gymnastics Level 4 Boys team was awarded the first place team banner at the USA Gymnastics New York State Championship held May 22. Evan Gooding of Spencerport captured first place all around in the 12 and older age division with a score of 54.40. He was also first in five of the six events: floor exercise (9.00), pommel horse (9.00), rings (9.00), parallel bars (9.20) and high bar (9.20). Competing in the eight-nine year-old age division, Luke Pavone of Chili earned first place on parallel bars (9.50), second place on rings (9.50), third place on vault (9.40) and fourth place all around (55.10). In the competition for ages 10-11, Roy Daniels of Chili earned third place on floor (8.90) and scored 52.10 all around. Nathan Daniels of Churchville earned 51.85 all around. With the top three scores in each of the men's events comprising the team score, all four members of the Bright Raven team contributed to their first place finish. The Girls Level 5 State Championships was held in Ithaca that same weekend where Bright Raven's Rhiann Korth of Avon earned second place on bars with a score of 9.65 in a field of 82 competitors in the 11-year-old age division.
