Lakeside doctor receives appointment

Lakeside Health System announced that Raymond J. Lanzafame, MD, MBA, FACS, vice president for Medical Affairs, has been elected president of the North American Association for Light Therapy (NAALT). NAALT's intention is to improve understanding of the photobiological mechanisms, basic laser physics, treatment parameters, techniques, regulatory issues and reimbursement.

Lanzafame joined Lakeside in September 2004. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Laser Surgery. He has served as Young Surgeon Representative of the Upstate Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.

He currently serves as the director of Continuing Medical Education for the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
