The American Legion is the world's largest wartime veteran's organization. Its many programs are dedicated to the veteran, the veterans' families, children and youth and those serving on active duty. Those programs include Americanism, National Security, Foreign Relations, Family Support Network and various troop-support efforts, Boy Scouts, Boys' State, American Legion Baseball, Oratorical Contests, along with several others. The American Legion is an advocate for veterans benefits, benefits for those serving on active duty and pressing Congress to ensure equipment is available that is needed by our men and women who are serving in 140 countries around the world. A recent program developed was the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund. This fund was created to provide scholarships to children of men and women who were killed while on active duty after 9-11-2001.
