named to Athletic Hall of Fame
Beth Owens Kutler, a graduate of Spencerport High School, was named to the Athletic Hall of Fame at Hartwick College.
Kutler, a standout defender on the women's soccer team from 1985-1988, reached post season play in all four of her seasons and the squad had a combined record of 48-20-7 during her varsity career. A four-year starter, she led Hartwick to three straight NCAA Division III Tournament appearances from 1986-88. She also played a key role on the 1985 squad that registered a second place finish in the ECAC Tournament.
Despite playing as a defender, Kutler scored 46 points - 17 goals and 12 assists - in four seasons.
Academically, she graduated summa cum laude with a major in nursing and was an NSCAA Academic All American after her junior and senior seasons. She was recognized as a John Christopher Hartwick Scholar, the college's highest award and received the President's Senior Scholar Athlete Award in 1989. She graduated ranked third in her class and was a faculty scholar and recipient of the Florence Nightingale Award.
She was presented the award by former head coach Dr. Kenneth Kutler. She is the daughter of Melva Owens of Spencerport, and the late Richard Owens.
