Vision care helped by Lions' donation to Lakeside

Lions Club International Foundation has granted $29,659 toward equipment for Lakeside Health System's "Vision for the Future … Close to Home" project, which is a part of the Lakeside "Building for the Next Generation" Capital Campaign. As part of this campaign, Lakeside is upgrading its vision surgery service, a project consistent with the interests of all Lions Clubs. Lakeside purchased a new microscope and four stretchers specifically designed to accommodate eye surgery.

The Lions Clubs International Foundation is the charitable arm of Lions Clubs International. Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with nearly 1.4 million members in 46,000 clubs in 193 countries and geographic areas. The foundation's mission is to support the efforts of Lions Clubs around the world in service their local and global communities by funding humanitarian services projects. This grant, which matches monies raised by local Lions Clubs, was facilitated by the Brockport Lions Club. The total amount raised by the Brockport Lions Club, other local Lions Clubs, personal donations of individual Lions Club members and support from BISCO (Brockport Integrated Service and Community Organization) was $33,121. "Members of the Brockport Lions Club were glad to help secure this generous gift to benefit patients served by Lakeside. This advanced equipment will enhance the surgical services provided to patients undergoing eye surgery," stated Charlene Whipple, past president of the Brockport Lions Club.
