Sweden Democrats name candidates
The Sweden Democratic Committee announced its candidates for the town board election on November 8. They are James Coates and George Lloyd.
George F. Lloyd is seeking a town board seat. He is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Air Force, who after leaving the Air Force worked as a Field Service Electronic Technician. In addition, he is a licensed amateur radio operator and served as secretary, vice president and then president of the Rochester Amateur Radio Association, the largest amateur radio club in New York state.
Lloyd's reason for running is his belief that the town board's priorities have to be reordered. He feels that all residents should have a voice on the town board. After eight years of one party rule, he said he would bring checks and balances to town government.
A resident of Sweden for the past eight years, he has been married to Gail for 32 years. They have two married sons and a third son who attends Brockport High School. They have five grandchildren.
James B. Coates is seeking the position of town justice. He has served as a New York State Civil Servant for 18 years, eight of which were with the New York State Criminal Justice System. He holds a master's degree in policy and culture studies and supervises a 120 inmate Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program at Orleans Correctional Facility in Albion.
A 16-year resident of Brockport, Coates is married to Pat, a 36 year professional with SUNY Brockport's International Education Office. He is a member of Nativity BVM, where he served on the parish council.
