Golden Agers celebrate 40 years

Members of the Chili Golden Agers club celebrated the 40th anniversary of its founding. A dinner celebration drew more than 80 members and Town of Chili Supervisor Tracey Logel and newly-appointed Senior Center Director MaryAnn Sears attended.

Citations were presented to former presidents Elsie Gelo, Doris Wolpert, Ernest Buckle, Frank Austin, Bob Schwer, Jane Buonocorso and current leader Lucille Connell. Members with more than 20 years of membership were also recognized.

The organization meets monthly at the Chili Senior Center. They collect food for the Southwest Ecumenical Ministries, assemble baskets of baby supplies for newborns at Lakeside Hospital, collect clothing for migrants and knit laprobes for veteran's hospitals. In addition, they donate funds for tsunami relief, Red Cross, Lions and other charities.
