Eagles win on Buzard goal
After managing just five shots in the first half, Kendall poured on the offense in the second half, including a goal by Bridgett Buzard in the 65th minute, for 1-0 win over Holley in girls soccer.
"We made some adjustments at midfield in the second half," said Kendall head coach Kelly Illi. Those adjustments resulted in 18 second-half shots for the Eagles.
Holley started the second half with scoring chances in the 45th and 50th minute off indirect kicks, which were stopped by Kendall keeper Jenny Cole.
The Eagles had a great opportunity in the 60th minute when Buzard sent a cross to Jamie Gabrielson who set up Jamie Donahue. Her attempt was stopped by Holley goalkeeper Lisa Barrett, who finished with nine saves.
The Buzard goal started with Laura Convery intercepting a goal kick. She found Donahue who passed to Buzard for the goal.
The last 15 minutes of regulation featured the Eagles defense of Brittany Thompson, Lauren Cole, Katie Donahue and Nadine Beres thwarting the Hawks in helping the sophomore Cole to her ninth career shutout.
Holley fell to 1-1-1 after opening the season with a 4-0 win over Naples and a 0-0 tie with Newark.
