Hilton names varsity baseball coach
Hilton Physical Education teacher Jeff Murphy, left, has been named the new varsity baseball coach at Hilton, replacing Ory Mee who retired this year, according to Hilton Director of Athletics Denney Wilcox, right. A 1992 graduate of Greece Athena High School, Murphy played both basketball and baseball, he has been physical education teacher at Hilton's Merton Williams Middle School for five years. He attended Finger Lakes Community College for two years where he participated on the basketball and baseball teams. "In baseball he was instrumental in leading the team to the Junior College Division III World Series," Wilcox said. "Jeff then attended SUNY Cortland where he received his bachelor's degree in physical education. While attending (SUNY) Cortland, Jeff played on the baseball team which finished third in the nation at the Division III College World Series." Murphy has been the JV baseball coach in Hilton for the last two years and is also the boy's JV basketball coach.
