fills vacant seat
Following the resignation of Hilton Board of Education member Ted Welch, the Hilton Board of Education voted unanimously at its September 27 meeting to appoint Robert J. Prorok of Greece to fill the vacated position until the May board election. Prorok has had a 12-year history of volunteering in the Hilton District including several years as community representative on the school and district improvement teams. He is vice president and senior portfolio manager at Howe & Rusling, an investment management firm in Rochester.
He will be sworn in as board member at the board's regular meeting October 11. He is married to Jeanne Prorok and they have three children: John, who graduated from Hilton High School in the Class of 2005; Katherine, a junior; and Robert Jr., a middle schooler.
Nine residents filed applications for the position and five were interviewed in open session on September 26. Welch submitted his resignation July 12 to be effective September 30 after serving nine years on the Hilton Board. For information call the board clerk at 392-1000 ext. 7099.
