Hilton HS grad named assistant coach
Ryan Mee has been named an assistant men's basketball coach at Hilbert College. He will assist with all aspects of the program including recruiting, scouting, practice and game day coaching.
A 2005 graduate of the University of Rochester, Mee was a four-year letter winner for the Yellowjackets helping them reach the NCAA Division III tournament four straight years. A dean's list student at U of R, Mee was part of the 2001-02 Final Four team and in 2004-05 led the Yellowjackets to the National Championship game where they finished runner-up. The former team captain was an honorable mention University Athletic Association (UAA) selection in 2003-04 and during his four years led the program to an impressive 97-17 record. Mee finished his collegiate playing career seventh all-time in three-point field goals made at U of R.
Mee played for the Western Region team in the Empire State Games from 2000-2004. While playing for current Hilbert College, Coach Rob deGrandpre's open division team, Mee helped the West to a bronze medal at the 2004 games in Binghamton.
The Hawks are coming off a 10-15 record and open the 2005-06 season at home with an exhibition game on Saturday, November 12 against Centennial College of Canada. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Hafner Recreation Center.
