United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal David Graham, son of Christopher and Cindy Graham of Brockport, and a 2003 graduate of Brockport High School, has returned from a month-long emergency deployment to the US Gulf Coast in support of both Joint Task Force Katrina and Joint Task Force Rita. His unit, 1st Battalion 8th Marine Regiment, was part of the US Military's response to these devastating hurricanes. They conducted crucial search and rescue operations up and down the flooded streets in the days and weeks following Hurricane Katrina. After rescue operations were concluded, the Marines remained in Louisiana assisting with cleanup and recovery operations.

In an historic move for the Marine Corps, as Hurricane Rita approached, the task force went out to sea on the assault ship USS Iwo Jima and rode in behind the storm as it made landfall at the Louisiana and Texas border. The Marines and their equipment were immediately available to commence search and rescue and recovery operations.

Graham is the radio operator for his Second Platoon, Bravo Company, First Battalion 8th Marine Regiment based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
