Interested in Nordic Walking?

Nordic Walking is a type of walking that uses modified ski poles. This form of walking started as a way to exercise during the summer in Nordic Europe. It was first developed in Finland by cross country skiers - thought to be the most fit athletes in the world - as a part of their summer training. Today it has spread around the world and has become extremely popular in western New York. Among its strong points is that it puts less pressure on the knees and still burns calories and provides exercise.

The Walk! Bike! Brockport Action Group wishes to determine the level of interest about participating in walks using the Nordic Walking technique and if potential participants would pay an instructor to provide equipment and lessons.

Contact Marilyn Colby, 637-2014 or mcolby@brockport.edu (subject line: Nordic Walking) for information or to indicate interest.
