Hilton Division II co-champs
The Cadets and Webster-Thomas battled to a 0-0 tie, which clinched a co-championship for the two teams in Division II boy's soccer. It is the first title for Hilton since 1989.
Hilton had three scoring chances in the first half. Joshua Brattlie hit a shot over the crossbar in the 11th minute, Brett Bridges had his shot stopped in the 19th minute and Jake Reber fed Jim Eichas who was all alone in the final seconds but shot into the chest of the keeper.
Both teams played the second half close to the vest, but the Cadets rallied late. Alexander Fess sent a cross into the box that Kyle Hayward headed over the crossbar in the 84th minute and Sean Bullock hit the right post in the 87th minute.
Goalkeeper Brian Beckler made three saves for the shutout as the Cadets improved to 9-5-2 overall, 7-3-2 league.
"With four seniors and several three-year starters, we have had more experience to rely on this season," said Head Coach Paul Davis. "This year the team listens and has been a great group to work with."
Hilton was to host a Section Five playoff game for the first time since 1995.
They won a state title in 1987.
