Hilton's Northwood Elementary School held its "Books for Len" fundraiser at the McDonald's Family Restaurant on Long Pond Road in memory of a beloved teacher, Len O'Lare, who died unexpectedly in 2000. Northwood School parent volunteer Pam Rapp reported that $1,200 was raised on October 25-26 when the restaurant donated 30 percent of proceeds from 5 to 8 p.m. of food served to Northwood students and families. "This was our fifth annual 'Books for Len' event," Rapp said. "Since 2000 we have raised over $7,000 to buy books for the Northwood Library. In addition, we accepted 'gently used' books which we donated to the Books on Buses in Rochester and St. Joseph's Villa." November 6, 2005 |
