Planting promises

Holley Elementary School students planted red tulip bulbs in the school's courtyard as part of their Red Ribbon Week activities during late October. The bulbs will not only beautify the school grounds, but symbolize the promises students made to remain drug-free and make healthy lifestyle choices. Once each bulb was planted, the spot was marked with a red ribbon on a stick. When the red tulips bloom the following spring and each year after, students will be reminded of their promises. Here, first grader Brandon Reome spreads some fresh topsoil to give the bulbs a good start. Submitted photo.
