AREA

Huffman, Jackie Page, age 72, of Julian, West Virginia, died November 22, 2005 after a battle with cancer. Daughter of the late Raymond and Orita Page, she was predeceased in death by her sisters, Ruth Tyler and Ethel Cook and one brother, Grant Page. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Claude Huffman; two sons, Randy Huffman and his wife Linda of Churchville, and Bruce Huffman of Julian; one daughter, Peggy Huffman of Julian; three grandchildren, David Huffman, Jody Stacey and her husband Ricky and Holley Barker and her husband Kevin; three great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, William and Allie; brother, Raymond Page of Little Rock, Arkansas; two sisters, Betty Elkins of Julian and Frances Gunnoe of Zephyr Hills, Florida.

Funeral Services were held November 26 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, West Virginia. Interment Memory Gardens, Madison, West Virginia.


Nagel, Robert Hoffman, 91, retired publisher, general manager and chairman of the board of The Daily News, died November 10, 2005, at Hope Hospice Facility in Shell Point Village, Fort Myers, Florida, after a brief illness. A 1933 graduate of Medina High School, he was a longtime resident of Batavia, where in addition to his publishing duties, he was president of the New York State Associated Dailies. He was an avid sailor and past commander of Oak Orchard Power Squadron and District 6 Power Squadron. After retiring from the newspaper in 1981, he resided at Shell Point Village, where he was president of the train room and active in the woodworking shop. During the summer, Mr. Nagle resided on the shore of Lake Ontario at Point Peninsula, Three Mile Bay, near the Thousand Islands, where he was a partner in Hidden Harbor Marina. His wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Howard Miller Nagel, died September 12, 1995. Surviving are four children, Robert Nagle Jr. (Donna Lippman) of New York City, Richard (Jessie) Nagel of Fairport and Three Mile Bay, the Rev. Encie (Vernon) Stevens of Brockport and Lyndonville, and Coni and John Lyman of Evanston, Illinois and Three Mile Bay; two sisters, Nancy Nagel of Rochester, formerly of Medina, and Jane Stillinger of Norwich, also formerly of Medina; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2006 at St. James Episcopal Church in Batavia. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery.


Rowell, Ronald W., age 72, on October 24, 2005 of Lantana, Florida. Predeceased by his wife Barbara; son Guy M. Rowell; brothers Morse (Red) and Charlie Rowell. Survived by daughters Cathy (Robert) Harris, Debra Rowell; son Jeffrey (Peggy) Rowell; four grandchildren; one great grandson; brother Peter (Laura) Rowell; sister Alice McKinney; sisters-in-law Joanne Rowell and Lillian Rowell; several nieces and nephews.


ALBION

Chippendale, Marjorie L., age 88, November 30, 2005. Predeceased by her husband, William on November 15, 1999. Survived by her children, Sandra (Robert) Thomas of Holley, Joyce (Jimmy) Bentley of Rochester, Kenneth (June) Chippendale of Kendall; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Paul (Pat) Wood of Holley; several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment White Haven Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to the American Lung Association or American Cancer Society.


BERGEN

Brown, James E., November 28, 2005 at age 79 in Avon Park, Florida. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley E. Davis. He is survived by his companion and friend Marlyce Flint of Avon Park, Florida; his children Linda (Norman)Austin, Judy (Kevin) Aradine, Douglas (Jeanie Moranz) Brown, Peggy (Lawrence) Stein, Pamela (Mike) Johnson and Jare Allocco (Paul) Allen; sister Mary (RH) Gwaltney of Georgia; brothers John Selph of Rochester, Ed Selph and Eugene (Judy) Selph of Pavo, Georgia; 10 grandchil-dren; a great grandson; several nieces and nephews. He was owner of James E. Brown Water Well Drilling.

A Memorial Service will be held December 5, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bergen United Methodist Church, 27 South Lake Avenue, Bergen 14416. Memorials can be made to the Bergen United Methodist Church or VFW Post #9853, 75 North Olivia Drive, Avon Park, Florida 33825.


Cunningham, John "Jack," November 22, 2005 at age 71. Husband of Norma; father of David (Peggy), Donald (Diane) and Diane (Jerry Burdick); brother of George (Marjorie), Robert (Linda) and Ann (Robert) Murphy; also survived by five grandchildren.

BROCKPORT

Edmunds, Olive E., November 24, 2005, at the age of 100. Predeceased by her husband, James M. Edmunds, Professor Emeritus of English, SUNY Brockport. Survived by her children, James P. Edmunds of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Susan E. Edmunds of Brockport, Paul M. Edmunds of Henrietta; nephew, Bruce (Mildred) McNall of Rush.

A Graveside Service was held at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to Visiting Nurse Hospice or to a charity of one's choice in her memory.


Schmidt, Victor E., November 28, 2005, at age 91. He received his PhD from Cornell University. He was a science educator, geologist and co-author of several books on Science teaching in the elementary school. He taught in high schools and at Cornell, SUNY Cortland and SUNY Brockport, where for 30 years he inspired generations of students and teachers. He was predeceased by his wife, Mabel O. Schmidt in 1983, daughter, Dorothy M. Connelly in 1996 and three great-grandchildren. Survived by his daughters, Emilie S. (Bernard E.) Kane of Greenville, North Carolina, Anne (Paul) Bakeman of South Burlington, Vermont, Carol (Bruce) Weimer of South Burlington, Vermont; son-in-law, Daniel Connelly of South Burlington, Vermont; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Edna S. Aakre of Albert Lea, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews.

Broderick, Gene L., November 26, 2005 at age 73. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara A. Broderick; his sons, Michael J. of Pennsylvania; his sons, Michael J. of Pennsylvania, Kevin W. of Spencerport, Neal (Karen) of New Mexico and Allan (Theresa) of Irondequoit; four grandsons, Steven, Michael, Joshua and Matthew; many nieces and nephews. He was a retiree of Rochester Gas & Electric Company , a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a volunteer of FISH.

CLARKSON

Ophardt, Kenneth W., November 25, 2005, age 78. Predeceased by his sister, Katherine Smith. Survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Laura Dewey, Michael (Edith) Ophardt, David (Kelli) Ophardt, Sharri (Gary) Ophardt, Bill Haynes, Tim (Amy) Haynes; brother, Howard (Jackie) Ophardt; 10 grandchildren; good friend, Tom "Brillo" Edwards; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ritter, Chester J., Jr., November 26, 2005, age 83. Survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Charles J. Ritter, of Jamestown, Rhode Island, Paul D. Ritter of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Catherine A. Reynolds of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, John L. Ritter, Harvard, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Paul, Amy, Jack and Jeanna Ritter, Emily and Paula Reynolds. Mr. Ritter was a graduate of the University of Rochester.

Services were held at the convenience of the family.


Ross, Donald E., November 24, 2005, age 76 after a brief battle with cancer. Survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Beatrice; children, Gary (Teresa) Ross, Karen (Gary) Webster, Scott (Kim) Ross; brother, Edward (Patricia) Ross; grandchildren, Tyler, Morgan and Kevin Ross, Alicia, Melissa, Christina and Andrea Webster, Ella and Georgia Ross; nieces and nephews.

Smith, Marion E. (Barrett), November 23, 2005, age 89. Predeceased by her husband, Donald E. Smith Sr.; and her son, Donald E. Smith Jr. She is survived by her children, Shirley McCullough, Ralph (Clara) and Edward (Alice) Smith; daughter-in-law, Connie Smith; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

•Casanzio, Martha M., November 24, 2005, at age 89. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles Casanzio; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sandra Casanzio of Rockford, Illinois; granddaughters, Deborah A. Casanzio of Tampa, Florida and Suzanne M. Casanzio of Rochester; brother Frederick Buttaccio; sisters Joan Dowdell and Mary Smallidge; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Frances Betkowski and Lucille Brown.

Frisch, Mary Ellen, November 20, 2005 at age 56. Predeceased by her mother, Elinore (Mockevicius) Yanaitis. Survived by father and step-mother Victor (Rosemary) Yanaitis; children Greg (Jennifer) Frisch and Alicia Frisch; grandson Carlo; brothers Charles (Rene), Robert (Sharon) Yanaitis, Daniel and Brian Porter; sisters Paula Potter and Therese Mooney; uncles Frank and Rev. Dominic Mockevicius; nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
