Students earn essay awards

Two students at Christ Community Church School in Brockport received awards for their essays, "Use of Candles with Care," in the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen's Association 2005 Fire Prevention Contest. Amy VanHooft of Brockport won second place for the 7th and 8th grade category. She received a plaque and $80. Beth Fenton, an Ogden resident, won sixth place for the 5th and 6th grade. She received a plaque and $25.
