Sweden appoints new member to zoning board of appeals
Sweden Zoning Board of Appeals Chairman Donald Grentzinger tendered his resignation at the end of 2005 after 20 years of service. The Sweden Town Board accepted his resignation with regret, noting his commitment to the community and his professionalism.
Long-time board member Ken Reid was appointed as the new Chairman of the ZBA effective January 1. To fill the vacant seat created by Grentzinger's resignation, the town board appointed Mary Ann Thorpe.
Thorpe is a former mayor of the Village of Brockport and an active participant in several community organizations. "Mary Ann's knowledge of government processes and her familiarity with the community will be very useful in her new role as a member of the zoning board of appeals," said Sweden Supervisor Nat O. Lester, III.
"The ZBA performs a vital function in upholding Sweden's zoning code while recognizing the need for flexibility in some situations," Lester continued. "The Sweden Town Board is confident that Ken Reid will carry out the duties of Chairman with the same professionalism as Don and that Mary Ann will add a thoughtful voice to the board." The other members of Sweden's Zoning Board of Appeals are Frank Fisher, Pauline Johnson and Peter Sharpe.
