Golden Eagles win third

BJ Quinto scored two goals and Derek Spence made 45 saves in net as Brockport defeated Lebanon Valley 3-0 in the first college hockey game of the New Year for both teams.

After the Golden Eagles killed a two-minute 5-on-3 Lebanon Valley power play thanks to several clutch saves by Spence, Quinto scored in the first period with assists from Blake Reilly and Steve Seedhouse.

Quinto scored his second of the game on the power play in the second period with assists to Aaron Boyer and Hilton grad Greg Schwind. Boyer capped the scoring with a third period power play goal. Quinto assisted to complete his three-point effort and Schwind registered his second point with the second assist.

Spence stopped 22 shots in the first period and 23 over the final two to pick up his first collegiate shutout and the Golden Eagles first since defeating Fredonia 4-0 last January. Brockport improved their overall record to 3-11-1, but are on a 3-2-1 streak since early December.
