Several volunteers spent a Saturday painting bedrooms in the nursery of one of the classrooms in the Lakeside Child Care Center, front to back they are: Mary Ann Knapp (Lion), Rob Blair (Rotary), Norman Knight (Rotary) and Peter Seleg (Lion) and Art Appleby (Rotary). Members of BISCO also participated. The clubs are not only donating their time and effort, they also are donating the cost of the paint and supplies. At right, Elaine Bader, member of the Kiwanis, Hemlock Twig and the Greater Brockport Chamber of Commerce, paints herself into an escapable corner . According to Nicole Struble, director of the Lakeside Child Care Center, people from various volunteer organizations volunteered to paint the classrooms. Open since September 1990, the Child Care Center is located just north of the Lakeside Beikirch Care Center in Brockport and was last painted in 2001. The center is licensed to accommodate 115 children and currently has an enrollment of 111 children, depending on the day. January 22, 2006 |
