Sixth grade participants were James Appis, Dylan Bates, Amber Elliott, Haley Howard, Jacob Ivison, Garet Keene, Tyler Kessler, Peter Lanphear, Megan McInally, Tiffanie Platt, Nicholas Prospero, Kristopher Stearns and Rachel Winter. Seventh grade participants were Nicole Adams, Michelle Brady, Stephanie Dilcher, Kaitlynn Frisby, Bryan Glazier, Kayla Grant, Kristen Guarino and Brandon Kenney-Westfall. Eighth grade participants were Matthew Christensen, Morgan Clark, Tiffany DeVelder, Shannon Dilcher, McKenna Downey, David Kenward, Christopher LaMarca, Molly Long, Kathryn Mucica, Matthew Smith, Lindsay Stumpf, and Brianna Worthington.
After spelling through several rounds of words, eighth grader Kayleigh Tate was declared the winner. Brandon Kenney-Westfall, seventh grade, was the runner-up. In February, Kayleigh will be taking a written test provided by the Buffalo News. This test will determine the top spellers who will compete in Buffalo for the regional title.
