Jacoutot recognized by Spencerport School District for 300th win
The Athletics Department at Spencerport Central Schools recognized Bill Jacoutot on Saturday, February 4 for recording his 300th win as Ranger Wrestling Coach. The ceremony was prior to the Spencerport match with Canandaigua.
Jacoutot was presented with plaques from current and former wrestling team members, the athletics department director John Pelin, the coaching staff, and by the Board of Education.
As of February 5, Jacoutot has a record of 301 wins, 28 loses and one tie for his 25 years with the Rangers. He is only the fifth Section V wrestling coach to reach this milestone, and he moves into the top 15 for all-time wrestling wins in New York state.
Jacoutot began coaching at Spencerport with the 1981-82 season, following three seasons as coach at Pembroke, where his teams were 34-6-1. Prior to that he spent one year as an assistant wrestling coach at his alma mater, the University of Buffalo, and a year as an assistant coach at Sweet Home High School in Buffalo.
Jacoutot's teams hold the state record for most consecutive tournament wins (16 teams or more) at 12 (1998-2000). His Rangers have been Monroe County Divisional Champions 32 times (most recent 2005), Monroe County Tournament Champions 25 times (most recent 2005) and Section V Champions 25 times (most recent 2005). He also has coached 9 individual New York State Champion wrestlers.
Jacoutot is currently an assistant football coach and also was a modified boys soccer and track coach for more than 20 years with Spencerport.
Spencerport has a 56-year wrestling tradition and Jacoutot is one of the legendary coaches, in a group that includes Leo Bernabi (41-11-1), Frank Meilnicki (36-2-1) and Walt Teike (161-26-2), according to district officials.
