Byron-Bergen senior selected scholar athlete
Michael McInally, a senior at Byron-Bergen Central School and the son of Allyson McInally of Bergen, was named a News 10NBC Scholar Athlete. His selection was based on his GPA, academic and athletic awards, and success in the Byron-Bergen athletic program. During his high school career, he has participated in wrestling, cross country, baseball and track and has a long history of achievements in each of these sports. Competing in the state competition for wrestling in Long Island the weekend of February 25, McInally won a 6-1 decision over his opponent from Section 3. As an added accomplishment, he was voted Division II Section V Co-Wrestler of the Year. His wrestling career consists of over 130 wins and he previously competed at the state-level finals in 2004 and 2005. McInally also participates in Mock Trail and Scholastic Bowl, is a recipient of a Citizenship, Scholastic Achievement, American Chemical Society Chemistry Achievement Awards, and is on the Academic Scholar and Effort Roll at school. He hopes to attend the University of Buffalo or University at Pittsburgh, majoring in engineering or architecture after high school graduation.
