Rev. Rodney Jones, Pastor of Grace Covenant Church, used pictures taken long ago of the old Inn, along with words, to discuss the issue with Chili Town Board member Mary Sperr. She is also a member of the Chili Historical Preservation Board.

Residents protest plans to tear down historic Stagecoach Inn

People met Friday, March 17 to protest the plans to tear down the Stagecoach Inn and replace it with a Walgreen's Drug Store at the intersection of Route 259 and 33 in North Chili. It was a cold, windy day but the crowd made their point in drawing attention to their concern about the situation. According to Darcy Beaman, there's still hope; the building's still here. Her mother, Priscilla, one of the organizers of the informational event said, "Walgreen's could make this a drug store-museum and include an old-fashioned soda fountain. Children could come here and discover what an old drug store looked like." Interested residents were meeting at Streeter's Inn to organize further and discuss options.

The sign outside of the former Stagecoach Inn at the corner of Route 33 and Route 259 in North Chili, outlines the building's history.

Rochesterian Jerry Sullivan showed up with a sign he displayed to motorists driving by. "It's important to me as well and I am out to support this group," Sullivan said.
