Gymnasts Brittany Burr and Kerry Apeland competed March 11 and 12 in the Level 9/10 State Championships at Shaker High School in Latham, earning high all-around scores qualifying them to advance in USA Gymnastics competition. Seventeen-year-old Apeland of Chili competed as a Level 9 and totaled 34.825 all around. Eighteen-year-old Burr of Greece competed as a Level 10 and scored 34.025 all around. Both gymnasts will compete at the USAG Regional Championships in Syracuse March 31 and April 2 at the OnCenter Convention Center. At Regionals, they will compete with gymnasts from the New England States in addition to New York. Burr is a senior at Olympia High School. Apeland is a junior at Churchville-Chili High School.
