Gymnasts compete in regionals

Gymnasts Kerry Apeland and Brittany Burr competed in the Level 9 and 10 Regional Championships held at the OnCenter Convention Center in Syracuse. At regionals, both gymnasts finished among the top 10. Seventeen-year-old Kerry Apeland, of Chili, competed in the Senior D Level 9 competition and placed fourth in floor exercise (9.125), fifth on balance beam (9.025) and sixth all around (35.375). Her high all around score has qualified her to advance to the USA Gymnastics Eastern Championships. Eighteen-year-old Brittany Burr, of Greece, competed in the Senior D Level 10 competition and finished eighth on both vault (9.175) and floor (9.20). Both gymnasts qualified to compete in the regional competition by earning high all around scores at the state championships. Burr is a senior at Olympic High School. Apeland is a junior at Churchville-Chili High School. Both gymnasts train at Bright Raven Gymnastics in Gates.
