Gaisser double leads Devils
Senior Ashley Gaisser knocked in a pair of runs with a double down the left field line and Brockport scored all three of their runs in the third inning in a 4-2 softball victory over visiting Spencerport.
The Blue Devils manufactured a run early in the game on a Jessica Stahl single, a Samantha Phillips single and a passed ball for a 1-0 lead.
Lindsay Hage led off the third inning with a single to center. After stealing second, Jessica Stahl laid down a bunt single sending Hage to third. After Stahl stole second, Gaisser laced her double to plate two runs. Tabitha Hilts then scored Gaisser with a single to right center giving Brockport a 4-0 lead.
Spencerport bounced back with a pair of runs in the fifth inning. Kelley Schweikert walked and Ashley Tarasco followed with one of her two singles before Tina Ruggeri knocked in both with a double to right center to cut the lead to two.
Ruggeri struck out seven batters for the Rangers and suffered the Rangers' first loss of the season. Brockport's Bethany Dragert got the win after allowing six hits and striking out six to even the Blue Devils' record at 2-2.
